The First Church of Christ, Scientist, Littleton

In 1879, Mary Baker Eddy founded the Christian Science Church…

“to commemorate the word and works of our Master [Christ Jesus], which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing.”

Church Manual, p. 17

In her writings, Mrs. Eddy explained how an individual could heal all forms of discord in one’s life through the same scientifically-based spiritual prayer that Jesus and his followers demonstrated in their lives. This is not faith-healing, as that term is generally understood. As her many biographies attest, Eddy herself was a successful healer on a magnitude reminiscent of the apostles. Her primary writing, Science and Health With Key to the Scriptures, has sold more than 10 million copies world-wide.

The Littleton Christian Science Church has been a healing presence in our community for more than 100 years, and lovingly welcomes visitors to our varied activities:

♥  The sermon in our Sunday service is read from the Bible and our textbook Science and Health (we refer to these two books as our ‘pastor’); this sermon is also read in all branch churches in 130 countries around the world.

♥  Wednesday evening meetings hold a special place in our hearts. This is a time of fellowship, of thanksgiving, and of shared gratitude for healings and blessings gained through an understanding of Christian Science.

♥  Children and teens enjoy our vibrant Sunday School. Younger classes begin by studying the Lord’s Prayer, the Ten Commandments, and the Beatitudes. As they progress, they take part in lively discussions that enhance their spiritual understanding of the Bible and the teachings of Christ Jesus, and the application of these truths to their everyday lives.

♥  Toddlers and infants receive loving care in our nursery and child care rooms during all church services.

♥  Our Reading Room and book store, open to the public daily, is available for quiet study and research. On the 2nd and 4th Mondays at 1 pm, an informal study seminar meets here to explore the truths of the Bible (join us!).

Online audio events available in the Reading Room include the Sentinel Radio broadcast (from Sun 8 am to Mon 8 pm), chats with lecturers and teachers (Tue noon), and the world-wide testimony meeting (Wed noon live, tape Wed 2 pm to Thu 1 pm).
